BYOK Setup Guide

Already have an API key? Get started in under a minute.

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store (or load unpacked for development).
  2. Click the FactCheck icon in your browser toolbar to open settings.
  3. Select "Use My API Key" mode — this is the default.
  4. Choose your AI model from the dropdown (e.g., GPT-4o, Claude Sonnet, Gemini Flash).
  5. Paste your API key for the selected provider:
    • OpenAI: Get a key at platform.openai.com/api-keys
    • Anthropic: Get a key at console.anthropic.com
    • Google: Get a key at aistudio.google.com/apikey
  6. Click Save — you're ready! Visit X/Twitter and click the fact-check button on any tweet.
